S355J2G3 is a non-alloy structural steel grade conforming to EN10250-2, with its chemical composition precisely formulated to achieve an optimal balance among strength, toughness, and fabricability. The carbon content is maintained at ≤0.22% to enhance crack resistance in welded joints and mitigate hardening tendencies within the heat-affected zone. Manganese, present at ≤1.60%, contributes solid-solution strengthening to compensate for the strength reduction associated with the lower carbon level. Silicon (≤0.55%) acts as a deoxidizing agent that refines the steel matrix, while residual elements such as phosphorus and sulfur are strictly limited to ≤0.035% each, collectively ensuring stable impact performance at -20°C.
