60WCrV8
Qilu
60WCrV8 / 1.2550 is a widely used low-alloy cold work tool steel conforming to the German standard DIN EN ISO 4957. It is renowned for its excellent wear resistance, high toughness, and outstanding hardenability. Due to its balanced properties and good machinability, many countries have steel grades equivalent to DIN 1.2550, such as S1 in the USA standard ASTM A681, 6CrW2Si in the chinese standard GB 1299.
The synergistic action of tungsten and chromium in 1.2550 steel provides excellent tempering stability and wear resistance. The addition of vanadium refines the carbides, further enhancing the material's toughness and strength. This composition enables it to balance hardness and impact resistance when manufacturing precision cutting tools, stamping dies, and gauges, making it particularly suitable for medium-duty cold work applications demanding high toughness.
