Grade: AISI 3135
AISI 3135 is a nickel-chromium structural alloy steel with carbon at 0.33%–0.38% for core strength, nickel (1.10%–1.40%) for toughness, and chromium (0.55%–0.75%) for enhanced hardenability and wear resistance. Manganese (0.60%–0.80%) and silicon (0.20%–0.35%) serve as deoxidizers and strengtheners. Sulfur and phosphorus are held below 0.040% to ensure purity. This balanced composition provides excellent hardenability and a favorable strength-toughness synergy, making it well-suited for mechanical components under moderate service loads.

SAE 3135 (AISI 3135) is a nickel‑chromium alloy steel grade, cross‑referenced to DIN 36NiCr6 and Mat. No. 1.5710. Thanks to balanced carbon, chromium and nickel contents, 3135 alloy steel delivers deep hardenability, high tensile strength and solid low‑temperature impact toughness after quenching & tempering treatment.
This alloy shows temper brittleness risk and limited weldability, so it is mostly applied under quenched‑and‑tempered condition. We supply hot‑rolled, cold‑drawn and forged 3135 steel bars in round, square and flat shapes, with full mill test certificates (MTC) for industrial traceability.

Forging temperature: 850‑1100°C.
Normalizing: 870‑900°C, air cool.
Quenching: 840‑870°C, oil quenching recommended (avoid direct water quenching to prevent cracking).

A1: SAE 3135 nickel‑chromium alloy steel serves heavy‑load shafts, connecting rods, high‑strength bolts and large quenched‑tempered forgings where good toughness and hardenability are required.
A2: Both are alloy steels, but 3135 contains nickel (1.10%–1.40%) for superior toughness, while 4130 contains molybdenum (0.15%–0.25%) for better high-temperature strength and temper resistance. 3135 performs better under low-temperature impact conditions, whereas 4130 is preferred for high-temperature pressure applications.
A3: 3135 is Ni‑Cr alloy steel, while 4135 belongs to Cr‑Mo series. 3135 offers better low‑temperature toughness, whereas 4135 shows improved tempering stability with molybdenum addition.
A4: Temper brittleness of 3135 mainly occurs when cooling slowly between 350℃‑500℃ after tempering, which drops impact toughness sharply. To avoid this issue, adopt fast air‑cooling or oil‑cooling right after tempering. Do not hold workpieces for long periods inside this brittle temperature range, especially for parts with high toughness requirements.
